7 Networking Tips Using Business CardsEven with all the technology we have at our disposal nothing conveys better than an old fashioned business card. They tell a person how serious you are about me inc. You have thought about the design you have arranged to have them printed, you have checked that all the details are correct, you are in business, contact me.
Here are my top 7 tips.
1. Always carry them with you. Before leaving home, check keys, wallet, business cards.
We all know the person who has loads of business cards in their desk, in the same box that they were delivered in 3 years ago. The one who moans about life being so hard.
Make it a habit to carry them, you never know who you might meet that could lead to a opportunity.
2. You may have noticed that everything has advertising on it. So why not advertise yourself.
Paying a bill by post, put in a business card. It may not be relevant to the person who receives it, but they might know somebody who has been looking for your product/service.
3. Use proper business card etiquette. Whenever you give a business card, ask for a business card. When given a business card, don’t just take it and place it in your pocket. Make the person feel important by looking at their card for a few seconds. You might see something that could be a topic of discussion. Write comments on the card such as date, location and common points of interest. These comments will prove valuable when following up with that person. This also demonstrates a sincere interest in the other person. Then place it in your wallet.
4. Be generous. Give business cards out to everyone, including family and friends. Remember the chap at the beginning who still has all his business cards, they cost pennies compared to the opportunity you could be missing.
5. Ask for referrals. You’ve given them your card you’ve got there’s, but is there anyone else that could benefit from your services/product. You can of course reciprocate if you want or not.
6. 99% of successes is showing up, the remainder is being in the right place at the right time. If you are networking in a room follow conversations so that you can gauge the topics, they could be discussing how they find it difficult to get the service or product just like what you have to offer. Right place right time.
7. Follow up. How many times have you completed a card at an event asking for more information about a product/service but never hear back from them.
Don’t be one of them, you’ve given your card out, got there’s, don’t file it. Chase it up, even if it’s a quick chat just to say hello again
They are all simple tips that work and can advertise Me.inc for very little cost.
